This complex Rooster has many sides to its personality. With each swirl of the glass an ever-evolving bouquet reveals notes of plum, blueberry, baking spice, cedar and violet. This extra dry Syrah is full bodied with smooth silky tannins, and a juicy fruit-forward palate of black cherry, blueberry and dark plum.

The Syrah was harvested from Hidden Terrace, Fools Gold, Osprey Ridge and Vanessa vineyards in the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys.  The Syrah (97%) and Viognier (3%) were co-fermented in both open top wooden vats and closed top stainless steel tanks.

ABOUT THE WINERY

Red Rooster Winery is located above Okanagan Lake on the Naramata Bench, just north of Penticton. This area is famous for its southwestern exposure and unique microclimate.

Our home is a winery that brings together the craft of winemaking, a love of local (and sometimes offbeat) art and a taste for delicious seasonal foods.

ABOUT THE WINE

The Syrah was harvested from Hidden Terrace, Fools Gold, Osprey Ridge and Vanessa vineyards in the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys.  The Syrah (97%) and Viognier (3%) were co-fermented in both open top wooden vats and closed top stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation and aging in new and one-year old French and American oak barrels for 14 months.  Limited production of 27 barrels.

TASTING NOTES

This complex Rooster has many sides to its personality. With each swirl of the glass an ever-evolving bouquet reveals notes of blue plum, black cherry, blueberry, sweet tobacco, baking spice, cedar and violet. This Syrah has a medium to full body, smooth silky tannins, and a juicy fruit-forward palate of black cherry, blueberry and dark plum. The dry lingering finish shows notes of juicy dark fruits, spice, black tea and cocoa powder.

FOOD PAIRINGS

Excellent with pepper steaks; grilled red meats; wild game meats; London Broils; beef and root vegetable stews; beef brisket; lightly spiced chili; short ribs; rich beef pies; mild lamb curry; roasted beets; aged Gouda cheese.
